Why We Built This Site
Georgia provides several public access routes, but record ownership is split. Towns County Sheriff creates local incident, booking, and jail material. The Clerk of Superior Court keeps filed charges and dispositions. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Crime Information Center maintains statewide arrest and final-disposition data, while the Georgia Department of Corrections and Georgia Sex Offender Registry serve narrower purposes. The site organizes researched contacts, official portals, documented fees, and request steps for those separate custodians.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: verified routes to Towns County Sheriff, the courthouse clerk, and statewide Georgia systems
- Official check instructions: the different scope of name-based GCIC searches and authorized GAPS fingerprint checks
- Record guides: how Towns County court cases, arrests, and registry entries are found and read
- Record restriction information: Georgia's process for limiting access to qualifying history and the separate role of court files
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, with no connection to a Georgia court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Its limits are important:
- It cannot issue certified court papers, criminal histories, or registry records
- It cannot submit record-restriction forms or open-records requests for a visitor
- It cannot order an official name-based or fingerprint check
- It cannot give advice about a specific Towns County charge or proceeding
- It cannot guarantee that an agency has not changed a fee, hour, or procedure
Only the office that maintains a record, such as Towns County Sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, or GCIC, can supply an official copy.
Search Partners
Search boxes on some pages are operated by outside providers. Each provider controls its results, terms, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports the site's operation. Towns County Criminal History does not determine the provider's charges or the contents of its results.
